The Skytech Skytouch 5320 remote control system was developed to provide a safe, reliable, and user-friendly remote control system for gas heating appliances. The system can be operated thermostatically or manually from the transmitter. The system operates on radio frequencies (RF) within a 20' range using non-directional signals. The system operates one of 1,048,567 security codes that are programmed into the transmitter at the factory; the remote receiver's code must be matched to that of the transmitter prior to initial use.

Nice Upgrade from 3301P

My 3301P died after about 12 years of reliable operation. The 5320 has a much nicer display and is easier to use, especially in a dark room. (The backlight comes on as soon as you touch the screen.) The case is also made of a nice hard material, unlike my older remote that got sort of sticky and gummy after a few years. There is also a nice timer feature that allows either thermostatic control or continuous ON operation for a specified number of hours and then turns the fireplace off. I chose this model because I had power available inside the fireplace and didn't want to be bothered worrying about changing batteries in the base unit. FYI, the new models no longer feature direct control of the fireplace fan, but this wasn't an issue for me. The 5320 doesn't allow entry of a temperature schedule, but I never used this feature on my old unit. We only used the fireplace when we were in the room. You can get a 5320P if you need scheduled operation. Some reviewers have complained that the base unit starts beeping and won't stop. This just means that the base unit isn't receiving the RF signal from the remote. Simply moving the antenna wire a few inches will solve this problem. (Try to ensure that the antenna wire can "see" out of the big metal fireplace housing. By the way, air vents in the fireplace housing will allow the RF signal to get in, no problem.) I tested and get reliable control from about 40 ft. away. I would recommend this brand and this model to anyone who needs a reliable fireplace remote control.
